I went to the Chameleon last night with Liz to see Punchline [with Cute Is What We Aim For, Valencia, and New Atlantic]. More bands I only know a song or two but it was fun watching the crowd and bands perform. I would love to do that every night. I love the vibe. I love the atmosphere. Steve [from Punchline] looked up at the balcony, saw me and we just stared at each other until I broke a smile [and he returned it]. That was my 'zomg!' moment of the night.
The second I got home, Matt [Action Action Matt since I don't know his last name] IM'ed me and asked if I wanted to go ghost hunting with his friends [Dylan and Ty...I'm totally guessing on the spelling]. We tried to do that on Sunday, but things came up and it didn't happen. I skipped out on eating with my bf to go hang out with a bunch of guys. He seemed kind of bummed, but...he's always telling me to get out, so. Drove to the abandoned hotel. I was more brave with three other guys around, but if I was there by myself [or even just two people] I wouldn't have done it. I bet I had a nice lung-full of asbestos by the time we left. Sweet. Had to run across the road so we wouldn't get caught. I was always last. This is why girls don't do these sort of things. They'll get caught with their little legs. Everyone had a souvenir from the hotel. I only grabbed a sticker and wore it on my hoodie. I'm only worth $54.95. I'm cheap.
Then we went to this other abandoned place in Stasburg. It's in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but farmland around us and it's pitch black. We drove around it once so I could get a look at the place. It was definitely more creepy than the last place. Luckily we didn't go inside.
Then I came home and crashed. I was so tired I don't know how I made it home. Today: Lunch with the bf and maybe more hangs tonight.

I'm thinking about deleting all entries and starting fresh. Even a name change. I've got another journal that I haven't really told anyone about and it's nice seeing everything so simple and clean. I changed the layout to match it, but I have all of these crap communities still listed under this name. They won't let me go.
So I'm still debating over that. It shouldn't be a big deal, but I'm not one for change.
Too much and not enough stuff has happened lately. I would type a long winded post about it, but no one ever wants to read those so I'll save you the rambling.
The End (for now).

I think I'm getting bored with the layout. While it was a cool idea in the first place, it's starting to get to me...feels too 'fangirl' now. And after reading the list of potential bands that could play at MU in the spring, I definitely don't want the added annoyance:
All American Rejects Butch Walker Death Cab for Cutie Fall Out Boy Jason Mraz Jimmy Eat World Lifehouse Switchfoot
The last time I checked, AAR was first and FOB trailing in a very close second (29% vs. 27%). If FOB were to come to MU I think I would be one of the happiest people. The only thing that would suck would be all of the extra people showing up (ie. the highschool/middle school/non-college students). And you know everyone and their sister would show up because of their exposure to TRL and whatnot. JEW would be awesome too. And Butch Walker was already here even though he wasn't the main act. Death Cab would also be amazing to have, but if I had to choose between any of the other bands I like and FOB, I'm sorry...they'd win hands down.

So today was the big 2-2. The day I grow another year older. It's also Veteran's Day (for those of you not up on your holidays). To everyone that wished me a happy birthday, I appreciate it. Those who haven't, don't worry it's still not over or if you really don't care/know that's cool too.
Spent most of the day with my mom looking for and buying a coat. It's not the most FANTASMIC coat ever, but it's doable (no, not like that). Finally got FOB's My Heart Will Always Be The B-Side To My Tongue and Take This To Your Grave (I already had the songs, but shh...Liz let me borrow TTTYG last semester and I burned the songs (without really liking or caring about them at the time) and I also got Bayside's self entitled album RIP John "Beatz" Holohan. Again, already had all the songs, but I felt it would be pretty nice of me (since these are bands I actually enjoy) to actually pay the guys who have literally put their blood, sweat, tears and lives into what they love for everyone to hear.
John also came over for a little. Took me out to Burger King (he's got one of his GRE tests tomorrow so nothing fancy tonight...tomorrow he's making me dinner), got Chewbacca and the Crown that I wore while eating and then into Weis. Good stuff.
( BK: Have It Your Way )
Also, thinking about doing a friends cut. So if you'd like me to keep you as my friend, lemme know in this post. Otherwise, I'm probably going to get rid of you. Some people have already gotten cut and some I probably won't cut even if you don't reply, but if you REALLY care then leave one
Nicole from Regal also wished me a happy bday last night and gave me a nacho chip as a present (it was even wrapped in a napkin). We always joke that the nacho's at Regal are laced with crack, hence the reason we always eat them on break. Hence the reason she gave me a nacho as a present. It was a lot funnier last night.
I also took some amazing photos with my camera. I don't feel like charging myself money for two pictures right now, so those will have to wait until after I get the next bill. Let's just say they involve alien mannequin's and Dennis Quaid. If that's not a cliff hanger I don't know what is.
ALSO: Mandy - if you're still reading this (noticed the journal disappearing a while ago) let me know if you have a new one or what's up. I hope you're doing OK!
Lara - THANK YOU for being the first person to wish me a happy bday! What are bday buddies for?! I know I've already said this, but you freakin' rock my socks OFF. I think I had a BF overload there, but he's pretty to look at when I'm bored, haha.
And yes... this post is P-U-B-L-I-C. Enjoy it while you can. I'm in a giving mood (hey, it is almost Thanksgiving).

So I always thought I was somewhat smart when it comes to viruses, but I just proved to myself last night that I am NOT smart. In fact, I think I'm those scissors that are round and can't cut for craaap so you can't hurt yourself. I deserve to wear a helmet and pads and ride the short bus everywhere I go.
So yeah...no more AIM for now until I figure out what to do. I don't know if Express is affected, but honestly I don't want to try. Got an IM from someone I had on my BL and I don't really know them or talk to them. Sorry.
I'm at home now, so no problems here. I might just say 'screw it' and buy a new PC because I'm so technologically challanged, apparently. I deserve a swift kick in the head or two. Maybe I was dropped as a child.
But enough of my saying how stupid I am (no need to remind me folks, thanks). You all get the point. My deepest apologies to all those who I don't know and got a little IM friend...more than once.
"Dude, I'm getting a Dell" sounds good right about now.
UPDATE: new sn (check info) that will be my "I'M SAFE; YOU'RE SAFE" kinda name. If you see it, then you know I'm allllll good.

| No Mail For You |
[Friday
September 3rd, 2004 at
12:25pm] |
So after I ate lunch today, I was walking back to my dorm and I wanted to check my mail since it's been a couple days now. I got up to the mailboxes and a girl (I'm assuming she's an RA or something like that) comes over and is like, "the mail didn't come yet today," and I'm like, that's fine because I haven't checked my mail in a while anyway.
But she proceeds to unlock the mailboxes and spin them around (I guess so the mailman can put the mail in) and I hesitate, because I'm confused, lol. So I ask her if she needs to do the same with where my mailbox is and she says yes.
I swear she waited until she saw me coming because as soon as I was starting to check my mail, she came over. Punk. So I guess I'll have to make another trip downstairs to check my mail later today. Thanks.

I was talking to Dan last night and I asked him if he had the latest Rilo Kiley CD because I knew he was a fan of theirs (I only found out about them by listening to one of his shows) and he said he could burn me the CD. Then we some how got on the topic of the radio station here (WIXQ) and John told me I should become a DJ. Riiiight.
I guess in some ways that would help me out a little, but I don't want to be on the radio. I don't have the personality for it. But Dan said I wouldn't have to say much (in fact, they'd prefer I didn't) so I don't know... It would be cool to get new music without going out and buying it. We'll see what I do...it would be nice to get out and do something and meet other people.
Well, I gotta get ready for my 6PM class. Fun stuff.

| Still Sick |
[Thursday
September 2nd, 2004 at
9:46am] |
I'm still feeling sick. Except now, I feel worse. Before it was just a cough and now it's a runny/stuffy nose, a horrible cough, and other stuff. What a great way to start the school year, lemme tell you. I think my allergies are acting up as well, so that's double the suffering.
The good news though, it's almost the weekend which means I can relax and sleep in and recover and all that fun stuff. I can't wait. I really do love 3-day weekends. I'm not going home this weekend, either. I figured it was my first weekend here so I could stick it out. Except I think a lot of people are going home this weekend, ha. Oh well. I'll enjoy the peace and quiet.
Russ IM'ed me this morning, which I wasn't expecting. He just wanted to say hi. He's a cool guy (he's a friend of John's). So last night I went over to John's apartment and hung out there for a couple hours. Sean had a cookout and I ate a hotdog. It wasn't too bad and it was better than sitting around, reading my macroeconomics book.
I just wish I wasn't sick... :P

I haven't been feeling too good lately. I hope I'm not getting sick. It's only the second day of class. :P I've been coughing a lot, but only the past two days I've started to feel kind of sick to my stomach. But then, my nose has been kind of runny lately, so I took some Claritin-D this morning because, well, that's all I have here.
On another note, I need to buy a mirror. We only have one in the whole room and it's on the door. That doesn't help me much.
Ugh.

| First Day Of Classes |
[Monday
August 30th, 2004 at
1:36pm] |
So I made it through my first day of classes. They weren't so bad. I also saw Mike (he was a lead in Midway on the opposite shift) and Virginia (she was a lead in Pioneer) on the way to McComsey, but I didn't say anything to them since I don't really know them and they weren't really looking in my direction. :P I also saw Byler (on my way to the bookstore) and Brandon (on my way back to McComsey).
My psychology class doesn't look too bad. My Microeconomics on the other hand is a different story. The professor seems nice enough (if only a little too soft spoken sometimes), but he said students usually found his tests a bit challanging (not that economics is hard enough in the first place). So that's not good news.
I was going to go to an accounting class today, but I was Brandon on my way there and he said even if they do have an open space, I'd need a drop/add card first. So I scratched that idea and here I am. Which, in some ways, sucks because I really need to take the class.
Rachel, my roommate, seems pretty cool. We were talking last night and we went to lunch together today. Last night I hung out with Jen, Gary, Tiff (Jen's roommate), Brandon, and Sara (I think that's her name...she's a friend of Tiff's). It was fun. Short, but fun. It was just nice to be able to hang out with other people and not feel completely alone. :P
I need to go to Lyle either later today or tomorrow so I can get a drop/add card. I really don't want to go, but I know I have to. I need to take accounting this semester. I might be able to get by next semester taking it, but I'm not 100% sure. Ugh.
I cannot wait until the weekend. I love having 3 days off.

The gush of cool air coming from my a/c |
] |
So I finally moved into my dorm. It's not as bad loking as I was fearing and not as big as I was hoping. If we move stuff around, I think there will be more room. Rachel, my roommate, isn't here yet, so I got to chose what I wanted first. Not that it will really matter in the end because, like I said, things will probably get moved around.
It's good to know the a/c here works pretty well. When we first walked in, it was freezing. I turned it down and now it's a comfortable cool-ness (although I might turn it down more tonight). The view isn't too bad. All I can see though, is the street outside (it looks like it was newly paved) and a bunch of trees. I guess that's better than seeing other...crappy things.
Not much else to say. John's asleep on my bed. Moving in can be a real pain. One big thing I can definitely suggest for next time; bring boxes. Lots and lots of boxes. It's annoying to have to carry around a bunch of bags or individual components (like my computer, piece by piece).

| It'll Cost You An Arm And A Leg |
[Wednesday
August 25th, 2004 at
10:00pm] |
So today I went to get my car inspected because...I was lazy all summer and didn't get it done before-hand. What should have been an hour or so wait, ended up being a 3 hour wait because, of course, they found some problems.
So I had to cough up some money for them to fix them so my wonderful car could pass the inspection (the yearly one, not the emissions test). But at least the one guy let us use two coupons when they were only supposed to allow one coupon per job. :B
Then we went to Verizon Wireless so my mom could buy me a new phone for my birthday (although it's a little over 2 months away). I now have a Samsung SCH-a670. It has a digital camera, which is kind of nice. But now I don't have anything to take pictures of. Maybe I will when I get to MU.
Speaking of which, I need to clean my room up a bit before I leave. It's in such a horrible state right now and I really don't feel like doing anything about it. My whole day has worn me out (even though I didn't do much), although I did do some laundry. So I guess that's a plus. I hate doing laundry, though.
Ugh.

| Long Weekend |
[Thursday
August 19th, 2004 at
7:15pm] |
I finally have time to sit down and type something up. Unfortunately though, I'm pretty beat. So this will probably be fairly short. Saturday through Monday were the longest days of the summer, by far.
First off, the park was open until 11PM from Friday until Sunday. Which means, I didn't get to bed until midnight (at the earliest) every night. On Saturday, Adriene didn't work because she had relatives coming over and she didn't find any coverage. Brandon and Jared did help a little. Brandon did personnel that morning and Jared did clipboard. But they were still blue tags so I was sort of left to everything else, which I can understand.
Then on Sunday, Adriene came back. She did personnel in the morning and I did personnel at night. I definitely wished I had done personnel that morning. But I had to practically beg her to be personnel. I could tell she didn't want to switch, but hello...she didn't work the day before so I felt I had priority. During shift change, a woman had a seizure on the Scrambler and that was a big mess. Then around 9PM the ride ended up closing again for the rest of the night. Go figure.
I also had to relieve Ilona so she could answer some questions for Jill (because of the incident at Scrambler) and then give some bathroom breaks because Adriene wouldn't answer her pages. Clipboard is the one who usually does that because it's usually easier for them to do that, since they're out in the group in the first place. I also had to figure out where to put people during breaks because we didn't have enough people after 8PM. So I got a bunch of people from Pioneer to help out with that.
On Monday, no one was in for Midway in the AM. When I signed in, Nic and I were the only green tags in. So I figured I'd be nice and help out with breakfast. Boy was that a mistake. It was a bit stressful because I didn't know the group that well. It's no problem being clipboard for that group (or any other group for that matter), but being personnel is a different story. I got through it though, no problem.
Plus I got a complimentary PAM for it, so I rock. ;)
So the other day, a bunch of us were in rides office, waiting for the night shift people to come in (although some were working doubles, so they weren't waiting on anyone) when Bell decided to shoot Nic with a rubber band. Nic shot one back and a big war broke out between greens and blues. Mostly it was only Bell and Justin (Moul chimed in for a little also) against Nic and Jeff. It was CRAZY. Mo broke out her digital camera and took some pictures. It was funny. :)
And now because of that, I want a camera similar to hers. Ha. She has a Panasonic Lumix. I just want a digital camera in general. My old one sucks and plus I can't find the charger anymore. Oh well.
I cannot wait for this week to be over.
